An absolutely fantastic publication. They really don’t make them like this anymore.

The Picture Newspaper was an image-only periodical started in 1969 by Peter Hujar and Steve Lawrence. The magazine was a brilliant mix of high low and featured work from pretty much every major NYC figure from this era. This specific issue features Jerry Hall on the cover, kissing a man’s buttocks, Peter Hujar’s portraits of Divine and John Waters, drawings by Antonio Lopez, and much more.

Original copies of any issue are scarce. Copies in decent condition that aren’t brittle are even more scarce. This issue shows wear and small tears at extremities of pages and at the top of the spine, but spine remains strong and intact.
