Ellsworth Kelly Menu for Chanterelle 1989

Ellsworth Kelly Menu for Chanterelle 1989

$475.00

Chanterelle opened in 1979 and brought fine French dining to downtown New York.

The restaurant quickly became known for commissioning leading contemporary artists to design their menus. Artists like Richard Prince, Roy Lichtenstein, Cy Twombly, Ellsworth Kelly, and more.

These menus were changed about every 6 months in printed runs of 800 by American Menu Printing. At the end of a meal, guests had the option of purchasing their menus and bills.

This amuse bouches menu features a plant drawing by Ellsworth Kelly and is dated April 15, 1989. This example was actually used and purchased by diners at Chanterelle, making it much more rare than unused examples.

Menu measures approx. 6.5” x 4.5” and is in fantastic condition with no visible flaws.
