Every Building on the Sunset Strip - Ed Ruscha

Every Building on the Sunset Strip - Ed Ruscha

$1,098.00

This is a big one.

This book is a milestone in the history of artist’s books.

To produce this book, Ruscha and his friends mounted a camera to the back of his pickup truck and drove it down the Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles. Both sides are shot in the exact same way, eliminating any subjectivity or artistic choice.

The book itself is housed in a shiny silver slipcase and unfolds to nearly 25 feet. Every Building on the Sunset Strip is a perfect example of Ruscha’s deadpan depiction of life in Los Angeles.

A copy of this book was prominently displayed at the NOW THEN show at MoMA last year.

This is the second printing of the first edition, printed with offset lithography. This copy shows some wear. Splitting on the slipcase and visible fold lines on the spine and some very minor spotting on the front and back cover. Hardly visible on the front cover. Otherwise, a beautiful copy of a significant and extremely rare book.

Note; the third and fourth photos are not of the actual copy, but are borrowed from MoMA’s NOW THEN exhibition to show the scale of the book.
