Subway - Bruce Davidson, inscribed 1st edition with letter

$750.00

This is, perhaps, the best copy of this book available right now.

Let’s get into it.

First of all, this book is amazing. An incredible look at a very different New York of the 1980s. For this groundbreaking photo essay, Davidson spent half a decade photographing people throughout New York’s subway system.

What makes this copy really special is the fact that it’s lovingly inscribed to Pegeen Fitzgerald who pioneered at-home radio in New York. Best known for her show with her husband, The Fitzgeralds which was recorded near Central Park in their home.

This copy also comes with a typed and signed letter from Bruce Davidson on his letterhead. The inscription and letter expresses Davidson’s admiration for Fitzgerald’s reporting on crime in NYC. A warm inscription from one pioneer of media to another.

It also features the ex-libris stamp of Marvin Mondlin, the longtime estate buyer for the Strand and author of ‘Book Row.’ An absolutely incredible and densely paced document of NYC downtown history.

This specific copy is a first edition in beautiful condition. The white lettering on the cover has turned to a light cream color but is otherwise in excellent condition
