An absolutely fantastic publication. They really don’t make them like this anymore.

The Picture Newspaper was an image-only periodical started in 1969 by Peter Hujar and Steve Lawrence. The magazine was a brilliant mix of high low and featured work from pretty much every major NYC figure from this era.

This specific issue includes Grace Jones shot by Antonio Lopez alongside killer photos from Bill Cunningham, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz, and many more.

As these are large-format publications printed on newsprint, they’re tough to find in readable condition. This copy is in relatively excellent condition with minor tears along the edges, but the spine remains strong and pages are not brittle.
